This Berkeley family compound, home to two sisters and their families, includes the renovation and addition to an existing home as well as a new home. The families wanted a safe environment for their kids to play and roam from house to house under shared supervision. The garden courtyard at the center of the site provides a wonderful communal space for family gathering and activities. The project’s warm, contemporary design includes vaulted ceilings and lots of natural light.
