Walnut Affordable Housing

Show Description

Livermore, CA

Envisioned to compliment and expand the client’s successful mixed-use Vineyard community nearby, Walnut will provide 17 new units of affordable housing to low-income seniors experiencing or at-risk of homelessness. Community amenities such as property management, laundry, and a community room will be located on site, while supportive services critical for resident stability will be provided at the Vineyard property.

The triangular-shaped property is bordered by streets on all sides. The site configuration mirrors the lot’s shape and creates a garden courtyard style apartment community, with a one-story community building along one side and two-story multi-family buildings on the other two. Each residential unit is designed to directly engage both internal and external neighbors, with an exterior balcony, patio and windows on both sides of the unit. This unit layout simultaneously provides ample natural light and ventilation. The community building features high vaulted ceilings, abundant natural light, and a physical and visual connection to both street and interior courtyard. The project’s modern farmhouse style integrates seamlessly with the surrounding Livermore neighborhood.
